Population Regions define locations where people are present for use in the IRPA calculations. They are used to define numbers of people present during shifts which is used in the F-N curve calculations.

An occupied buildings assessment can be performed by identifying any regions as buildings.  Building occupancy can be specified in the workergroup and building occupancy screen.

The number of people per shift can be specified for each population region in the Shift Data tab.

Fatality factor data for each of the populations can be specified for explosions, the thermal radiation and flammable dispersion (by assigning a fatality factor) and for toxic dispersion (by assigning a toxic gas reduction factor) as shown below.

Explosion vulnerability can be specified for different building types based on the CIA vulnerability curves.

Tip
Populations can be shown as a point by locating the region coordinates in the same location. This can easily be achieved by clicking the plot plan in the same location three times and clicking the add button.
Tip
Protection against toxic releases can be defined by specifying the reduction in vulnerability using the Toxic Gas Reduction Factor. This is useful when a building has protection against toxic gas ingress or when personnel have protection from releases outside by using breathing apparatus.
Tip
Advisory Note
Adding, deleting, renaming or reordering population regions updates the workergroups immediately. Workergroup data may be lost when deleting population regions. Therefore, it is recommended to define the population regions first before adding the workergroup data.
